This weekend at Birka, I went out of my comfort zone and prepared an A&S display based on my recent experiments with gilding.

I made a presentation board with showed my three gilding techniques I was previously working on - sanding the gesso, using Permacol to raise the gesso, and using a ruling pen and a crowquill for flat guiding. On each of the panels, I placed the results of the tests that I conducted. I also made two examples of finished work - one with gold paint and the other with gilding, both of which were framed. I also made another example of just the gilding, without the illumination.
My paper that I printed to go with my display can be found here:
There were many great conversations about my display when I was in the A&S room I was truly thankful for each and every word of encouragement and the tokens I received.

The staff assisting with the display were extremely helpful, and I greatly appreciated all they did to make this a wonderful experience.
