Silver Crescent for Evalina von Schaidag

This is one of my favorite scrolls I have made to date.

Mixed media paper, Holbein and Windsor & Newton goauche, Finetec metallics, Higgins eternal ink.

I knew that I had adequate time to accomplish a more detailed piece. After consulting with a few of my art mentors, I decided on this piece. I loved all the critters in the exemplar and it just seemed like a good fit for her.

One decision I needed to make was whether to use ochre paint or gold for the circles. I chose to use the yellow ochre for the larger circles to try to stay consistent with the exemplar, but used Finetec gold for the smaller circles as I wanted to have balance for the metallics used in the silver crescent. Also, the exemplar does have gold in places.

One note is that except for the circles and the lines attached thereto, all of the other outline was done with a liner brush and paint.
